A stabbing suspect has been apprehended by University of California Police (UCPD) after an initial emergency notice was sent out to the UC San Diego community at approximately 12:50 p.m. today.
According to UCPD, the stabbing occurred on a Greyhound bus on the I-5 highway. The suspect then fled onto UCSD campus. The victim is being treated for life-threatening injuries at Scripps Hospital.
The suspect was reportedly first seen near East Campus Office Building, headed towards Thornton Hospital at Medical Center Drive. According to the emergency notice, the suspect is a 20 to 30 year-old, 5’ 6” Hispanic or Latinx male adult. The suspect was dressed in a white tank top and had visible tattoos. At the time of the notification, it was unconfirmed whether the suspect was still carrying a knife.
At around 1:45 p.m., UCPD sent out a second notice stating that the suspect had been apprehended and that the situation was all clear.
