Fall Y’all Festival 2018 Will Welcome Students Back with Roy Blair & MOONZz

Associated Students Concerts and Events (ASCE) has announced Roy Blair as the headliner and MOONZz as the supporting act for this year’s Fall Y’all Festival, which takes place on Sunday, September 23.

This is the fourth year of the festival, but the first year that the event takes place in RIMAC Field instead of Warren Mall, a move that ASCE has made to accommodate the growing numbers of new students.

Roy Blair is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles whose debut album, Cat Heaven, was released in 2017. Blair was previously a backup vocalist for Kevin Abstract, leader of boy band BROCKHAMPTON, during Abstract’s “Death of an American Supermodel” tour.

MOONZz is an electronic pop artist with singles like “Satisfy” and “Navigator,” the former of which was featured in three Victoria’s Secret ad campaigns. Her second EP, Aftershock, was released earlier this year.

The dance lineup includes Ascension UCSD and Team Millennia. Ascension UCSD is a dance team that competes across Southern California, and Team Millennia is a hip-hop team based out of Orange County, California.

The festival will feature a blacklight-themed art and decor area with interactive art, DIY stations for body paint accessories, and various activities. Food vendors will include Fry King, Hammond’s Gourmet Ice Cream, Belinda’s Cocina, and RED Sambusas. There will also be an HDH food truck that accepts Dining Dollars.

Senior Associate Vice President of ASCE Nancy Xu expressed the importance of welcoming students to the university with the first event of the year. “[ASCE] would like for the focus to be on all the aspects of the festival rather than just the lineup itself, since Fall Y’all is more than just the music.”

The festival is free to all UC San Diego undergraduates with a valid student ID. Entry wristbands can be picked up the day of the event at the Thurgood Marshall Tennis Courts (near Goody’s) from 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., or until capacity.

Sabira Parajuli is the Arts and Culture Editor for The Triton.
