Price Center Evacuated Due to Gas Leak

Last updated August 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Price Center (PC) was evacuated around 11:30 a.m. on August 6 due to a gas leak at the Dirty Birds construction site. PC reopened at 12:15 p.m. with limited food service operation for an estimated 6 hours while workers repair broken gas lines.

UC San Diego Communications Officer Erika Johnson told The Triton that workers at the Dirty Birds construction site near Starbucks accidentally hit a gas line while renovating the area. Repairs to the gas line are currently underway.

During the evacuation, shuttles were told to skip the PC loop stop and proceed to their next scheduled stop. Since then, normal shuttle service has resumed.
