Students and Faculty, Let The Triton Be Your Platform

What makes you angry? How are you responding to George Floyd’s murder? Are you participating in protests? What has your experience been like at UCSD?

The Triton’s Editorial Board is reaching out to you, the UCSD community, to share your thoughts and opinions with us about recent incidents of police brutality and racism. As we stand with students of Black communities, we would like to use our platform as a media outlet to uplift the voices of underrepresented students and faculty members.

If you would like to share your thoughts or personal experience, we would love to hear from you. Community op-eds are a powerful way of communicating with administration, faculty, and the student body, and we would like to offer a channel to give members of our campus a way of reaching the rest of the UCSD and beyond.

There is no set guideline for writing a community op-ed. Generally, they are over 400 words and you will be working directly with our Opinion Editor and Executive Board for publication. Submissions are edited for clarity and comprehension, and the Board reserves the right to not publish a submission. However, we always work directly with the author to streamline the writing and editing process, so they are aware of the submission’s status throughout. Here are some examples of op-ed submissions in the past.

If you have even an idea for an article, please feel free to reach out to us, and we can help you decide if it can be published. More than anything, we want to give you a platform so that you can be heard. If you have any questions or ideas, please email editor@triton.news or opinion@triton.news.

We look forward to hearing from you.

To submit your community op-ed to The Triton, you can do so here.

  • I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the layout of your website?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so
people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two images.
Maybe you could space it out better?
