Timely Warning of Sexual Assault – January 27, 2025
On January 27, 2025 at 6:52 P.M., UCSD released a Timely Warning stating that the UC San Diego Police Department is investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred on January 24 at 8:00 P.M. in Eighth College. The assault was reported January 27 at 4:06 P.M. and the victim reported that the assault was committed by an acquaintance who is not associated with UCSD. At the time of this report, no suspect is in custody and the report is still under investigation.

Timely Warning of Vegetation Fire – January 23, 2025
At 4:18 P.M., UCSD released an update stating “The fire has been contained. There is no longer an active fire front and poses no threat to the campus. Roads surrounding the southern portion of the UC San Diego campus are significantly impacted by traffic detours from with the Gilman fire earlier this afternoon and these impacts are expected to last until at least 8pm. Motorists departing campus are asked to avoid Gilman Drive. La Jolla Village Drive, and Villa La Jolla Drive and use northern campus exits. Individuals arriving for evening classes, work, and events are asked to approach campus from the north if traveling by car or to use the UC San Diego Blue Line Tolley. Bus transit is significantly impacted. “
At 3:31 P.M., UCSD released an update regarding the vegetation fire on Gilman Dr. at Via Alicante stating “Forward spread on the fire on Gilman Dr. at Via Alicante has been stopped at this time. There is no immediate threat to campus. Avoid Gilman Dr., Villa La Jolla Dr. and La Jolla Village Dr.”
On January 23, 2025 at 2:47 P.M., UCSD released a Timely Warning stating “There is a vegetation fire on Gilman Dr. at Via Alicante.” As of the time of the update, the fire poses no active threat to campus.
Timely Warning of Burglary – January 23, 2025
On January 23, 2025 at 3:07 P.M., UCSD released a Timely Warning stating that a burglary took place at the KSDT radio station on the morning of January 23. UCSDPD is currently investigating the burglary, and provided a photo of the suspect pictured below.
Timely Warning of Armed Suspect – January 17, 2025
According to University Communications, neither person involved in the incident was associated with UCSD
At 1:11p.m. a UCSD Timely Warning was sent out stating “ALL CLEAR. The suspect has been contacted off campus. There is no ongoing threat to campus.”
The suspect has been identified to The Triton as Zachariah Brown. University Communications stated: “Please do not confront this person. CALL 9-1-1 to report [a] sighting.”
In a statement to The Triton, University Communications said “San Diego CrimeStoppers received an anonymous call this morning reporting that a girl was being held against her will. San Diego Police pinged her cell phone, which was found to be located in the vicinity of LionTree Arena on the north UC San Diego campus.”
San Diego CrimeStoppers is an organization whose mission “is to partner with local law enforcement agencies, the media, and the public to help solve felony crimes anonymously. Crime Stoppers combats the three major problems law enforcement faces in gathering information; fear of reprisal, apathy, and a reluctance to get involved.”
On January 17, 2025, at 10:56a.m., a UCSD Timely Warning was sent out regarding an emergency in the Rimac/Liontree area. The original warning stated that there was an emergency in the area, and that students not in the area should avoid it and northern campus if possible, and that those who are in the vicinity should stay inside and lock their doors.
An updated message was sent out immediately after the first stating that UCSDPD and SDPD continue to search the area, reiterating their instruction to stay inside, lock your doors, and avoid the area if possible. They also urge people not to call dispatch unless they have information directly regarding this incident.
Timely Warning of Sexual Battery – January 16, 2025
On January 16, 2025 at 12:59a.m. UCSD released a Timely Warning regarding a sexual battery report to the UCSD Police Department received on January 15, at 9:50p.m. The warning stated that on January 9, 2025 at 3:00a.m., “an individual was sexually battered by a known suspect at the Pepper Canyon Living and Learning Neighborhood.” While the suspect’s identity is known, they are currently not in custody, and UCSDPD is currently investigating the report.
The Timely Warning went on to state that sexual assaults are never the fault of the survivor, and that “consent is voluntary and it must be given without coercion, force, threats, or intimidation and can be withdrawn at any time.”
