There has been no shortage of Sun God Festival line-up rumors this year, as with all years. This year’s Sun God headliner will be a huge throwback to the early 2000’s – LMFAO, announced Associated Students Concerts and Events Associate Vice President Paul De Lisle.
The group will be kicking off their reunion tour at this year’s Sun God on April 30th, 2016.
“After a long hiatus from music, RedFoo and SkyBlu decided to take it back to their roots and play a student show,” said Steve Harwell, a tour representative for LMFAO. “They really are excited to whip out their Speedos, kick back by the beach, and then play the raddest show UCSD has ever seen!”
Best known for their Billboard topping hits “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It,” LMFAO has received almost universal critical acclaim over the years for producing quality party music for today’s youth.
“Many students were concerned after last year’s SDSU jacket fiasco and we thought we could bring some flavor back into the mix by moving past the 90’s and into the 2000’s, hopefully avoiding another publicity fiasco,” said De Lisle.
Students were shocked to learn that SkyBlue is RedFoo’s uncle. Close family ties and a bond of brotherhood meant it was only a matter of time before the famed group came back to perform again in front of their millions of adoring fans. “We should no doubt be grateful that they chosen UCSD to do so,” said Harwell.
Sure to be a crowd pleaser for those who miss the youthful energy of their seventh grade dances, LMFAO will hopefully have UCSD students party rocking this year once again.
The rest of the lineup has yet to be announced, but some students are speculating that Will.I.Am (of Black Eyed Peas fame) and Taio Cruz will be heading up the rest of the day. Whatever the case, we at The Triton are just as excited as you hopefully are.
We will continue to update you today as the rest of the lineup shuffles out.
