Rapper Sean Kingston will headline this year’s Warren Live on Valentine’s Day, February 14. The show will be opened by rising pop star Emeryld.
Originally raised in Kingston, Jamaica, KiSean Anderson, known by his rapper name Sean Kingston, was discovered on Myspace. He has released three studio albums, including Sean Kingston, which features his hit single, “Beautiful Girls.” The song peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 2007. The artist also co-wrote Jason Derulo’s “Whatcha Say.” Kingston’s most recent album, Back 2 Life, was released in 2013.
Kingston has previously performed at UC San Diego. In 2008, he was one of the headliners for what has traditionally been the biggest campus music festival of the year, Sun God.
Emeryld is a Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter. Her most recent release is a single titled “Honey Bee.” Emeryld has previously performed at festivals such as SXSW and Austin City Limits.
Warren Live, hosted by Warren Concerts and Festivals Commission, has become hugely popular among students from all colleges. The organizers were proud to note that last year, headliner Jesse McCartney, who is best known for 2004 hit “Beautiful Soul,” sold out the PC Ballroom location. This year, the Warren commission has continued with its theme of throwback headliners. On the Facebook page, the organizers told students to expect an even larger turnout for this year’s show.
The event is free for all UC San Diego undergraduates with valid student ID. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show is first come, first serve.
