O.T. Genasis will replace GoldLink as the headliner for this year’s Hullabaloo Music Festival on Nov. 17. The announcement came this afternoon through a Facebook post on the festival’s event page today.
GoldLink missed his set at the Tropicália Festival in Long Beach, CA last Saturday after announcing on Twitter that he is a new father. Many questioned if he would perform at Hullabaloo this upcoming Friday, and he did not confirm if he would come to San Diego.
Odis Oliver Flores, known by his stage name O.T. Genasis, is a rapper based in Long Beach, CA. He is most known for his songs “CoCo,” which peaked at #20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in 2015, and “Cut It” featuring Young Dolph, which peaked at #35. His most recent single titled “Everybody Mad” came out on Oct. 6. His most recent feature was with Snoop Dogg on the track “3’s Company.”
Genasis played at the 2017 Anaheim DUB Show alongside artists Gucci Mane, The Game, and Fetty Wap, and also appeared at the BE THE LIGHT EVENT at the LIGHT in Las Vegas with Puff Daddy. His most recent appearance was in an interview with the Breakfast Club last week, where he discussed the pressure to release another album and of not wanting to be labeled as a West Coast artist.
“I’m really disappointed. I was really excited for GoldLink,” said Kyra Green, a Revelle College student. Others expressed great enthusiasm for the change in the comments of the Facebook post.
ASCE will continue to update festival attendees with announcements on the festival’s Facebook event page. Students can pick up their wristbands with a valid student ID starting at 12:00 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Hullabaloo Registration Tent on Library Walk next to the bookstore. Wristbands are required to enter the event in Matthews Quad.
