Saba will headline the eighth annual Hullabaloo festival, with Vincent and LELAND as supporting acts, on November 16, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. in Matthews Quad.
Saba is a rapper and producer from Chicago. He had his first moment in the spotlight after being featured on Chance the Rapper’s second mixtape, Acid Rap, as well as on rap track “Angels” of Chance’s album Coloring Book. Shortly after, Saba released his debut 13-track album Bucket List Project on SoundCloud. His recent album, CARE FOR ME, was written in the wake of his cousin Walter’s untimely death.
Vincent, a 20-year-old music producer from Canada, is sure to bring energy to the stage with his fierce EDM sound. His remixes have hit over seven million plays on SoundCloud, including his popular remix of Meek Mill and Drake’s “R.I.C.O.”
LELAND is a pop singer from Mississippi who now resides in Los Angeles, California. He has worked with a number of stars, including Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez, Daya, Andy Grammer, and Allie X. His most popular songs include “Mattress” and “Half of You,” featured in the Netflix original movie Sierra Burgess is a Loser.
In addition to the musical acts, the festival will feature carnival rides such as the Kamikaze, Round Up, and Tornado. The decor will include projections, neon sign photo-ops, and a collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts Major (ICAM) department. Various food vendors will be at the event, such as Fry King, Samba, and an Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) food truck that accepts Dining Dollars.
Hullabaloo is free for all UC San Diego undergraduate students with a valid student ID. Students can pick up wristbands on the day of the event at the Hullabaloo Registration Tent on Library Walk from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm, or until capacity is reached.
