The r/UCSD subreddit on popular social platform Reddit surpassed 20,000 subscribers on January 15, making it the most popular University of California subreddit.
UC San Diego currently has a total of 20.3 thousand subscribers, surpassing the former leader, UC Berkeley, who holds a total of 19.7 thousand subscribers. UCLA follows with a total of about 13.6 thousand subscribers.
Redditor u/billybobmaysjack posted on the r/UCSD subreddit about the achievement, which was followed promptly by mixed reactions from other Redditors. Some questioned whether this should be an achievement that UCSD students recognize.
Other Redditors celebrated the feat as a rare source of Triton pride.
“For once I feel proud to say I’m a Triton,” said Redditor u/LawksAMussy.
The r/UCSD subreddit consists of a variety of posts, including everyday life tips, memes related to campus culture, random news updates, and the occasional venting session about the difficulties of being a college student. The Triton has also previously used the platform to reach out to the greater campus community.
