The Triton is a digital-first, independent, student-run newspaper with the goal of producing content relevant to the UC San Diego community. We’re always looking for writers, photographers, data analysts, digital designers, copy editors, and administrative staff. Experience is a plus but not required. If you’re passionate about news, arts, or current events, or just think this opportunity sounds interesting, we’d love to talk about having you on board.
See below for a list of sections and their descriptions:
To provide fair, impartial, and accurate coverage of news that affects UCSD and its students.
To represent the voice of the UCSD community by giving a platform for all students, with care to provide a voice for underrepresented communities.
Arts and Culture
To produce content about the San Diego art scene in order to enhance student culture and highlight the importance of visual arts, music, film, photography, dance, theatre, and literature in our everyday lives.
Photo and Design
To provide images to accompany articles and content produced for the rest of the paper, often in order to provide a visual record.
Administration and Technology
To ensure the smooth and timely production of content with regards to the behind-the-scenes operations of publication and distribution.
To create and implement stylistic consistency through the use of AP Style, as well as internal style guidelines.
To raise awareness and promote the publication of content through a variety of social media and engagement with our readers.
The heads of the sections that you specify interest in will reach out to you via email to schedule an interview or request additional application materials.
