According to a statement released by the Office of the Chancellor on April 9 Summer Session 2020 will be held entirely online. The move extends the remote learning measures implemented for Spring Quarter 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All summer classes as well as programs such as the Summer Success program for first-year students will be held online, according to the statement. Additionally, course material fees will not be charged for the summer sessions.
Summer housing will still be offered to students for the duration of the summer. Students will be assigned singles if they choose to stay at UCSD. The University encourages students to seek on-campus summer housing if they lack stable housing, cannot accommodate virtual instruction, are unable to travel, or if they come from areas severely affected by COVID-19.
It is unknown at this time whether Fall Quarter 2020 will be moved online. Registration for Summer 2020 begins on April 13.
